“In the final stage of egolessness, there is an obscure knowledge.”

– Aldous Huxley

New Psychonaut is a blog covering my ongoing psychedelic education.

I’m a journalist studying a psychology MSc at the Univeristy of Exeter. My name is Steve Langsford Beale, more about my background and intentions in this blog post.

In summer 2023 I graduated from the first Vital Psychedelic Training program. The Unofficial Vital Student Zine doubled as my coursework. There’s exclusive material from sector greats ranging from researchers Rick Strassman and David Luke to clinicians like Adele La France and Ben Sessa.

I’m supposed to be blogging about the psychology MSc too. It became clear early on assignments and work experience took priority. I’ll try to report in on the university’s Transdisciplinary Psychedelic Colloquium. The Philosophy of Psychedelics BA course too.

Starting January 2024 is the world-first postgraduate course Psychedelics: Mind and Medicine and Culture and I’m on it. Buy one of my unique hand-tie-dyed 100% cotton kaftans to support my studies.

Importantly I am not a mental health professional. Anything you read on this site (especially written by me) should not be taken as official mental health advice.

Refer yourself to an authorised doctor, therapist, or counsellor for feedback on your own health. I’ve put a bunch of links on the Resources page.

Moreover I cannot facilitate psychedelic experiences, and obviously not get you any drugs. I urge you to travel to a country where psychedelics are not prohibited. Would you believe these guys are on the case in the UK, kudos to them.

All the art on the site is available to buy or see on display now. I don’t get a kickback or anything, but watch out for fund-raising merch in the future. Click on the links to go through to the artist’s or gallery’s website.

Psychedelics are still illegal in the UK and most countries. This website is for informational and harm-reduction purposes only. I do support the reclassification of psychedelics based on science and evidence. But I can’t and don’t encourage the use of illegal substances and breaking the law.

Neither am I evangelising for psychedelics, which are not a panacea, or recommending them to you. If you are considering psychedelic treatments via the legal medical system or in a different country, refer to the Resources page for expert advice, but the best person to speak to is probably your own therapist or doctor.
